"Flyin' Brian" By Don Miles

     As I tell you this story, I am falling from 10,000 feet. You see, my name is Brian and I was flyin'...until someone told me I can't fly. Let me explain. I was raised in a controlled environment by scientists and from the day I could understand, I was told I could fly. Not with any mechanical  assistance, just fly. I was shown movies of people who could fly and read books about them. Even the scientists and my "parents" would sometimes fly with the help of wires. I was so convinced that I could fly that at age nine I did fly. I had total control after a time and could go as high as the air would allow. But when I got older, I wanted to see the outside world so I escaped. I met a girl and I showed her what I could do. As I climbed higher and higher, she called my cell phone. When I answered she said, "you can't fly...nobody can fly...it's impossible," and for the first time in my life, I doubted if I could fly....and I began to fall...and so here I am, falling toward the ground, unable to fly because someone else told me it's impossible. I can't believe it. But now a thought occurrs to me. I WAS flying so I should still be able to fly. I concentrated, I told myself she was wrong, I can fly..I CAN fly..I CAN FLY........I stopped just feet above the ground in front of the girl. She said, "you can't do that..." I said, "Yes I can!" and flew away...HAVE NO DOUBT.
