"The No-Knock Assassination" By Don Miles

     For Breonna, a beautiful and dedicated public servant, it was a day like most days working as an EMT, an Emergency Medical Technician. She and her partner were called out for a shooting victim at a drug house that the police had just raided. One of the suspects had been shot by the police and Breonna was working on him in the kitchen where it happened while her partner got the crash cart. She was doing chest compressions when two officers in the living room of the home began to argue. She heard one of them ask where the fuck it was and the other guy say he looked everywhere. Then they looked toward Breonna and the suspect and started toward them. One cop told her he had to check the suspect for a weapon and he started searching inside his jacket. Breonna protested and said she wasn't done trying to save his life. The cop said he was a punk and who cares anyway. Then he pulled something out of the suspects jacket but it was not a gun, it was a large bag of white powder. He looked at Breonna and smirked. He told her she would get a cut but she shook her head no. He told her she was beautiful and maybe they could go out and talk about it. She told him she had a man and wasn't interested in either him, his money, or the drugs. All she wanted to do was save this guys life. The officer stood up and gave her and angry, dirty look then started to smirk as he told her it was alright and not to worry about it. He put the bag of drugs in his jacket and walked over to his partner. The two cops talked while she worked on the suspect with her partner who came in with the life saving gear, and the cops looked over at her as they whispered to each other and occasionally nodded. Breonna worked on the suspect with her partner until it was obvious the suspect, who was shot, wouldn't make it. Little did she know that because she had integrity, because she had morals that she would be targeted for execution. She also didn't know that the previous renter of her apartment was a drug dealing felon, which gave the drug stealing officer the excuse he needed to bust down her door with a "no-knock" warrant and essentially murder her and then claim it was a case of mistaken identity, even though the felon who lived there before was already in custody. Nobody would suspect him and nobody would have known he thought to himself except for an anonymous tip that led investigators to him and his other dirty cops. They were arrested and tried, exposing a group of cops who robbed drug dealers and took their cash and drugs. Breonna looked down and smiled.
